One Year Later

Full Life Celebrating One Year

This Sunday, September 9th, our church Full Life Community Church will be celebrating one year of being a community of faith.  We started meeting in a hotel in January 2010 and moved into a living room of a home in March 2011.  We continued to meet weekly to read scripture and pray about what God was doing in our community of faith.  I started an internship with The Evangelical Covenant Church at CrossRoads Covenant Church in DeSoto, Texas, Pastor Josef Rasheed.  While serving at CrossRoads, God allowed me to grow as a person and learn the value to trusting Him completely in planting Full Life.

I returned to Austin after four months of serving with CrossRoads and began working as a Sales Consultant at CarMax the Auto Superstore where I learned the value of being a Christ-follower outside of a church work environment.  I learned to build real relationships with my co-workers despite their views of God and I learned to serve others using my gifts outside of the church. The church continued to grow and we moved to the Wells Branch Community Library.  The church began to serve through our “Free Garage Sales” and “Acts of Service” in the community.  We were also able to secure an office space of nearly 600 square feet in the Dessau Palms Complex.

After nearly a year, I transitioned from CarMax to being an Admissions Advisor at National American University.  My team there taught me so much about acceptance and growing through perseverance.  The job was really tough for me at first but my team stood by me.  I learned how to love and trust God through tough seasons.

A month after I started working there, on September 11, 2011, we hosted our launch service where nearly 100 people came to worship with us at the Wells Branch Community Library.  We were blessed as a church to have alumni from Texas Gospel Fellowship celebrating the 10 year celebration for TGF.  We also had family and friends from throughout the country attend the launch service.

Since that time, we have been blessed to partner with a number of organizations to serve the city while also growing as a community of faith by adding singles, married couples, children and families.  Our church has more than doubled in size in the last year but more than that we have continued to be a missional community serving through Dessau Elementary School, Austin LifeCare, Side by Side Kids, Capital Metro, Family Eldercare and World Vision.

We are thankful for where we are in the journey and look forward to what God is going to do in the years ahead as we seek to be the church that God wants us to be.  I want to thank all those who have partnered with us through prayer, participation or partnership in finances.  Because of your partnership and God’s faithfulness we are still growing as a community of faith today.

Join us this Sunday, September 9th for our One Year Celebration at Salinas Events Center located at 1900 E. Howard Ln. Pflugerville, Texas 78660 at 10:10am.
